In times of education advancement, web based applications that facilitate research are the way forward for higher institutions. There is need to move from time wasting, cumbersome methods of manually accessing, storing, and managing numerous project details. Therefore, in order to automate these activities it’s necessary to have them in a web-based repository. This project describes a web-based application that can be used as a repository for past and ongoing project details. The Web Based Project Laboratory System (WBPLS) consists of a database driven website that can be used to store details of third year projects at Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT). The application is supported by ASP.NET and C# and Microsoft SQL server. WBPLS includes interfaces that can be used by students, supervisors and coordinator as they play their respective roles in project research. A free text search application is included to further ease information retrieval. The application avails users with timely and online access to information related to projects in one central repository.en_US
