dc.description.abstractThe solar water project is a sustainable initiative by Innovation: Africa an Israel based organization aimed at harnessing renewable energy to provide clean and reliable water supply to local communities. The primary objective of this project was to reduce dependency on conventional energy sources and promote eco-friendly water management practices. This report outlines the project's scope, progress, challenges faced, and recommendations for future improvements. This report outlines the Execution of solar water projects for Innovation: Africa as the client while executing works a Field Civil Engineer for Bulobi Engineering and Construction Company Limited (BECCO) the contractor. Typically, an Innovation: Africa water supply project entails the drilling of water boreholes and supplying the infrastructures for rural communities in need of clean water. Once a community has been identified, a team of specialists is sent out to survey the possible positions for the boreholes to be drilled. Innovation: Africa contracts contractors to drill the borehole and after the boreholes has been drilled, water quality is tested for human consumption purposes and the maximum yield is tested for each borehole. Chapter One outlines the background of solar water projects, the client and contractor, the scope of and the location these solar water projects. Also under this chapter is the problem statement, the main objective of these solar water project, the specific objectives. Chapter Two covers the general project overview, the description of water flow from the source to the water tank towers, the description of the water tank towers, the pump rooms and their layouts including reasons for the choice and location of the water tank tower(s), the water network design Chapter Three outlines the construction phase starting with a brief of the preconstruction phase, the construction process and the materials, equipment and recommended grades of materials. Chapter Four outlines the water pipe work installations including the required depth of excavation of pipe network trenches and the recommendations and procedures for backfilling the pipe network trenches, the water pipework testing and commissioning, flushing and filling, leak testing of pipe connections and the water electrical and security installations in the pumproom including the schematic layout of the pump room. Additionally, chapter four takes about the health, safety and environmental considerations of the solar water projects. Chapter Five covers the challenges, solutions and lessons learned during the execution of the solar water project. Chapter Six covers the conclusions and recommendations from the solar water project execution.en_US
