    Abstract
    This report details construction and project management practices that the author participated in as the client’s project manager during the construction of a Maternity ward for the Upgrade of Nyabirongo Health Centre III to Health IV in Kisinga Town Council, Kasese District The project was funded by Ministry of Health as phase 1 construction works as part of the presidential pledge for the Upgrade of Nyabirongo Health Centre III TO Health IV. It is a requirement that a student undertaking a Master Degree in Construction Management at Makerere University undergoes training on construction site to attain the practical skills on project management practices and relate the site knowledge obtained to the acquired knowledge in the lecture room. It is upon this background that the author was able join the Client–Kasese District Local Government on behalf of Ministry of Health, Government of Uganda Chapter one discusses the project background, its objectives, scope and other details like the contract sum, duration and different stakeholders. Chapter Two covers literature review. Chapter Three covers project acquisition and execution of works. This chapter details the site construction activities, project management and contract administration aspects including the different techniques used in the actual construction. Chapter Four entails the challenges encountered during project implementation, solutions used to solve the site challenges and lessons learnt. Chapter Five details the conclusions and recommendations drawn by the author on the execution of the proposed construction of a Maternity Ward (phase 1) for the Upgrade of Nyabirongo Health Centre III to Health Centre IV.
