    Abstract
    This project report focuses on the construction works of Namilyango Internal road from Gravel to Bituminous Standard (1.0m). The report focuses on the role played by the author in construction project management and contract administration, but also details the activities carried out during the implementation of the project. Under Chapter One is discussed the background of the project, its objectives, scope and the project details like the contract sum, duration and work contract details. This chapter also expressly states the author’s involvement on the project as an Assistant Project Manager (Consultant) Chapter Two covers the project execution including the acquisition of works, construction activities and processes, project management and contract administration aspects of the project. The different tools and techniques used in the actual construction that took place on site are discussed in this chapter, right from subgrade up to the asphalt layer. The project management techniques employed to manage time, cost and quality are also discussed in detail. The challenges encountered during project execution are discoursed in Chapter Three of this report. Some of the challenges were at construction industry level, while others were at company level and project level. The solutions proposed to address these challenges are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter Four details the conclusions drawn by the Author (Assistant Project Manager) during execution of the project based on the experiences in participating in the works. Additionally, the recommendations on how this can be successfully implemented, going forward, basing on the lessons learnt during the internship
