    Abstract
    This project report gives an account of the construction of Seven (7 No.) drainage channels in Kawempe division and one (1 No) additional channel in Nakawa division. The report focuses on the design update, construction project management and contract administration. This report also gives details the activities carried out during the implementation of the project. Under Chapter One is discussed the background of the project, its objectives, scope and other project details like the contract sum, duration and the different stakeholders. This chapter also expressly describes the author’s involvement on the project as a project engineer on the Consultant’s side. Chapter Two covers the project execution including the update of designs, mobilization of the contractor and the consultant, construction activities and processes, project management as well as contract administration aspects of the project. The methodology of construction employed in the actual construction that took place on several drain sites are discussed in this chapter, right from earthworks, through to the finishes. The project management techniques that were employed to manage time, cost and quality are also discussed in detail. Chapter Three goes ahead to highlight some of the challenges that were encountered during the project execution. The challenges have been categorized into three levels i.e Individual level, Company level and Institutional level. The solutions proposed to address these challenges are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter Four details the conclusions drawn by the author regarding the project execution as a whole. The conclusions presented are based on the experiences drawn during the author’s participation in this project. Additionally, the author presents recommendations on how similar projects can be successfully implemented, going forward, basing on the lessons learnt during the engagement on this project.
